Milwaukee HD 105th Anniversary & HOG 25th Anniversary

Milwaukee trip was fantastic, we had several groups that left at different days and times. We had great weather the whole trip. The sight of thousands of bikes venturing up to the wonderful city of Milwaukee. Our group that headed out on Tuesday around 8am. Thanks to Mark & Cheryl Shaffer for leading the ride and our group, that was increasing every stop after our first night in Springfield Il. Glad that Paul & Susan were able to join us on the trip. We joined couple that was from Milwaukee in Springfield, they took the lead then we met another group that lead us around some heavy delayed construction, nothing like HD hospitality!!

Even as far as 15 miles out people lined the overpasses with signs "Welcome Home Bikers" and waving!!! It was a experience we will never forget. The city of Milwaukee is very clean, with great food, and great times.

We sure missed Doug & Pat Gay, so glad that Doug is doing much better now. Your still in our prayers and thoughts.

Tim made it but his story and how it all evolved, is one only Tim can tell. Tim was the Chapter 2075 support vehicle with trailer that happened to be about 50 miles in front of us. We did catch him and Thanks Tim for your support.

Then it was to the 25th year HOG Anniversary Party at Miller Park!! Several of us got together there and thanks to Rick Miller (Road name "Scout"), we still haven't figured out how he found space in jammed filled concert bleachers for 12 of us. Thanks Rick! We all enjoyed a Rockin Concert by Kid Rock if you haven't seen him live he keeps you entertained the whole concert it was great and with great company!! Yes and you will see a lot of pictures from the concert area coming to the website I am sure. Keith keep your wet willy to yourself!! Then "Scout" even found us a quick way out of the music stage bleachers that saved a lot of time and not having to deal with bumping sweaty human cattle's full of alcohol on our exit. Well, it was going under the bleachers!! So for me once I was down I was down as I crawled on all fours howling like a dog in the night until clear for me to stand gimply.

Everyone I believe got a chance to go through the Harley Museum, another very impressive part of the trip. They did it right the history of bikes and the company, they even broke down the operation of the engine so that everyone can understand how it works, we heard ladies & guys saying "I always wondered how that worked". It is so impressive, you have to make that a must see. You will see lots of pics I am sure. Watch for Mark Claassen Ridin Hard or Stay Home on a Harley Davidson Scooter, and yes he was doin the biker wave. We also found several items of Harley history to test the Old School Biker yes you D-Rod!

Jim Madden & Jean carried our Chapter flag in the parade, talked to him and he said it was a humbling experience, the whole city is there to thank you and all the bikes and Chapters represented from all over the country and the world.

A great experience for all, and a trip to remember, and prepare for the 110th!

Everyone made it home safe, we are thankful for that, well except for those that were fortunate to keep riding. Retiree's Mark and Cheryl were heading onto Minnesota, and Paul & Susan were also venturing else where before returning home. We want to pray they have a safe trip home.

Thanks to all for a great time!!

Rick

The first annual Grove Harley Palooza is being chalked up as a success!

We had around 70 people in attendance and from everyone I talked to they had a great time. Everyone enjoyed some great rides, a little casino action, and a ton of great food and fun.

Jr Spanky's put together a spread that you wouldn't believe if you weren't there! They did an outstanding job of taking care of everything. If you're ever passing through that area I suggest stopping in for a cold drink and checking out the place.

The last of the rides rolled in about 5:00 and found most of us sitting around on the patio with full bellies while the band was getting started.
Everyone hung out and had a great time even after they opened the doors to the public. The second round of fun started about 9:00 when another band fired up inside where we all indulged in some dancing, pool shooting, and a lot generally mindless fun.
Being the ol' fogies that we are most of us headed back to the motel across the street about 10:30. However not everyone was ready to call it a night.
I would like to apologize to those in our group there were actually trying to sleep as the rest of us.....uh.....socialized in the parking lot.
I'll hold out on any of the details from there on the grounds that I may incriminate myself and others.
Let's just say that there are some photo's of D-Rod and Brent Allen that may or may not make it to the web site. However, I understand that Brent makes a poor passenger on a Road King.

I want to thank Vernon and Donna Reese and Brent Allen for leading one of the rides. Also D-Rod for planning the bike games (even though they got scratched form the agenda), My lovely girlfriend Julia Foreman for helping at registration/check-in, along with everyone else that chipped in and helped make this a success.
Bigger and better next year!

That's it for now

See you on the road
Marley

Chapter Buzz Book

Have you ever needed something done (computer fixed, AC repaired, a reliable car mechanic, etc) and want to work with someone you know?? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to get your name out to a bunch of people that you can help and share the same passion as you? Wouldn’t it also be nice to pick up a phone book and call some friends to see if they want to go riding??

The book is going to resemble a chapter phone book. This book will include white pages (Residential type info) and a yellow pages section (Business type info). In order for us to put this together, please fill out the information below with some information about you and/or your business. This is strictly voluntary but is a great opportunity to get your name out there and work or ride with people in the chapter.

Cindy Fish is working on putting together the "Buzz Book" for the chapter. There are 2 fliers that she needs everyone to fill out to be included in the Buzz Book and get back to her, again there is 1 for the "Residential" section and 1 for the "Business" section. She would also like you to attach a business card with the business flier and a picture (preferably of you on your bike) with the residential flier.
Please contact Cindy at cindydfish@aol.com to get her this information.

You will need to make sure to pay for them at the front counter. She has several extra T-shirts for sale if you didn't get a chance to pre-order yours. There is a white long sleeve style, a short sleeved black style and a short sleeved plum, women's style available. There are also a few extra hats as well. If you have any questions regarding any of this, please contact Cindy at cindydfish@aol.com.

Dinner Rides

Since the weather has gotten a LOT nicer, we have dropped the lunch rides and are now doing dinner rides on Tuesday nights. New for this year is a 50/50 and Harley giveaways on each ride!! We'd like to thank Paul Johnson at Pig Trail Harley Davidson for donating the Harley giveaways.

Here is an example of what you've been missing:

"Hello fellow HOG members,

For those of you who were on the dinner ride last night, you know it was a good time. This is for the ones that couldn't attend, something about a officers meeting. Anyway we had a excellent ride led by David Gouvion, who by the way has to be related to the Fish family, not only did he win the Pig Trail giveaway he also cashed in on the 50/50, but was generous enough to donate his winnings back to the chapter, way to go David. Now back to ride, we left Pig Trail and took hwy. 12 across the lake to hwy. 45 and followed 45 into Fayetteville, I must say no matter how many times you ride the same route it is always seems different than the time before. After taking the scenic route to Grubs we met Rick, Terry and Steve at the restaurant that made for a total of 14 members and 10 bikes. Things get a little blurry after that it was happy hour. Remember next week on the dinner ride there will be more fun and prizes to be had.

That's all for now and as always "RIDE HARD OR STAY HOME"

Mark C."
